A hand-carved fox skull nested in a base of basswood. This piece was a meditation on the life cycle, the food chain, and where energy goes from phase to phase.

The sun nourishes the plants, whose roots hold the earth together. Water is the vehicle for nutrients and respiration in both plants and animals.

The topographical pattern in the middle of the skull represents mountains and land. The golden sun soaks into the ground to nourish the plants and their roots. Water surrounds all of these things, allowing for the growth of both animals and plants.
